The Monkeys and the Tiger

Author (стоит на левом краю сцены), Little Monkey, Big Monkey, Tiger.

(На сцене 2—3 дерева, за крайним слева деревом стоит стремянка, у среднего дерева стул. Пока говорит Автор, выходит Тигр и рыщет по сцене, уходит; выходят Обезьянки.)

Author. Long, long ago there lived a tiger in the wood. He was big and always hungry. He ate everything in the wood. Two little Monkeys were very much afraid of the Tiger.
Little M. I'm afraid of the big Tiger, he will eat us some day.
Big M. Don't be afraid. We'll run away and hide from him.
Together (поют, танцуя). We like to run, we like to climb, hee-hee-hee-hee!
Little M. Oh! The Tiger! Run!
(Старший хватает Младшего за руку, и они бегут. Тигр за ними. Убегают со сцены, снова появляются, бегут через сцену очень быстро. В это время Автор читает. Тигр уже отстает; затем Обезьянки появляются снова и быстро залезают на стремянку за деревом. Появляется злой Тигр.)
Author. The Tiger ran after them. Poor Monkeys, they ran very fast and then quickly climbed up a big green tree and hid there. So the Tiger couldn't find them.
Tiger (ищет). Where are they? (В зал.) Where are they? (Снова ищет.) They've gone. (Уходит.)
Little M. (дрожа). What shall we do? I'm afraid, he'll eat us!
Big M. Don't be afraid. I have an idea. Let's go to the Tiger tomorrow morning.
(Засыпают. Играет музыка; замолкает.)
Big M. Wake up! It's time to go. And be brave!
(Уходят. Выходит Тигр, садится на стул — важно, нога на ногу. Появляются Обезьянки.)
Tiger. Where were you yesterday? I was very hungry.
Big M. We wanted to come to you yesterday.
Little M. But a very big tiger ran out of the wood and wanted to catch us.
Tiger. But there is only one tiger in the wood. That's me!
Big M. Oh, no, Mr Tiger. There is another tiger, too.
Little M. We saw him yesterday. He is bigger than you.
Tiger (сердито). Bigger than I am? Show me that tiger and I'll eat him up! Because I'm the biggest and the strongest tiger!
Big M. Let's go, it is over the field.
(Уходят. На сцену выезжает «колодец».)
Author. They went and came to a big deep well.
(Появляются.)
Big M. He lives here, look!
Tiger (смотрит в колодец). Yes, he is bigger. Rrr!.. (В зал.) He shows me his teeth too. (В колодец.) Rrr!.. Come out! Rrr!.. I tell you to come out, I'll eat you Up! (Прыгаете колодец.) Ohhh... (Удаляющимся голосом; потом «БУМ!».)
Little M. (вздыхает). Poor Tiger.
Big M. He will not eat us or other small animals now.
Little M. Never.
(Машут в зал лапками, убегают счастливые.)
